New Fashioned French Toast

  • 3 large organic eggs - Aisle 1
  • 1 Cup Horizon organic whole milk - Aisle 1
  • 1 Tsp. organic sugar - Bulk Aisle 5
  • 1/4 Tsp. salt - Bulk Aisle 5
  • 12 slices of Rudi's organic Bakery Wheat & Oat bread - Frozen or Bread Display
  • 1-3 Tbsp. organic unsalted butter - Aisle 1
  • 1/3 Cup confectioners' sugar, for dusting - Aisle 2

Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar and salt until blended. Pour into a large baking pan & soak bread slices in one layer, turning once to coat both sides. Melt one tbsp. butter in a 12-inch heavy skillet or griddle over moderately high heat. Transfer four soaked bread slices to skillet and cook until golden brown, about 1 minute each side. Cook remaining bread in 2 batches, adding more butter as needed. Transfer slices into a large shallow baking pan. After all slices are browned & arranged in baking pan, bake on a center rack until hot, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with cnfectioners' sugar, if desired.
