Funding Priority Areas:
-Development of the local food system and the local food shed serving the central Kentucky region
-Promotion of food citizenship
-Increase of access to healthy food for all
-Promotion of the cooperative business model

Deadline to apply
Please submit a two paged letter (maximum, three pages if needed for budget) in a PDF file format by 5:00 p.m. on March 27, 2024 via the Online Submission Form

Grant Amount
Funding requests should range between $500 and $1,000.

Project Period
Projects are anticipated (but not required) to be implemented within 12 months.

Proposal Contents
Letters must be clearly labeled to include:
-Organization’s contact information
-Detailed description of grant request, including project timeline
-Amount requested
-Detailed project budget narrative (actual cost per item for budget)
-Describe how the project will impact one or more of the funding priority areas (above)
-Anticipated outcomes of project and measurement

Eligibility
All 501(c)3 organizations that wish to apply for grants must have a profile created on Guidestar.org with a gold level of transparency or higher. For convenience and check of eligibility, the Blue Grass Community Foundation hosts a searchable list of Kentucky nonprofits registered with GuideStar called the Kentucky Nonprofit Directory. Review Process
The Good Foods Charitable Foundation’s volunteer Board of Advisors will review the applications and determine awardees based on the proposal’s strength of alignment with the priority areas. Organizations may be asked to provide additional information. Additional consideration will be given to organizations who have not received funding from the Good Foods Co-op Charitable Foundation in the last 3 years nor been the recipient of the Good Food Co-op’s Give Where You Live Program in the last 3 years.

Award Notification
Applicants will be informed of grant decisions by April 9, 2024. Awarded organizations are asked to have a representative attend the Good Foods Co-op Annual Owners Meeting, April 27, 2024, 1:00 – 3:00 PM for presentation of the award.

Reporting
A follow up report detailing how the funds were used is expected in March 2025.
