Intro To Indian Cuisine (Vegetarian-friendly!)

Cooking a flavorful, nutritious Indian meal isn’t complicated and it can be done quickly in your own kitchen. In this class you will learn how to use fresh ingredients, spices and herbs to create a zucchini and cauliflower curry as well as rice with mixed vegetables. Each recipe takes less than 30 minutes – so, yes! It is possible to create a delicious, healthy meal in less time than it takes to wait on delivery or to pick up carry out.

Students will learn how to use spices to enhance the flavor of any grain, lentil or vegetable. They’ll also get ideas for using herbs and spices to take the place of fats, oil and salt in a recipe without sacrificing taste.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite or at the Co-op and are $8 for owners, $10 for general admission.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Mindy Kaur is an epidemiologist with a passion for cooking wholesome food at home on a daily basis. Born and raised in Punjab, India, she grew up watching her mother and sister cook two meals a day for 20 people. Mindy cooks traditional Punjabi dishes with exciting flavors and fresh ingredients that are reflective of her upbringing and heritage. Her approach to cooking is simple; use earthy spices, fresh herbs and easy to find, quality ingredients.

Mindy has made it her mission to share authentic Indian flavors and techniques to help bring cultural understanding and appreciation between the East and West. This includes sharing meals with neighbors, the community and at her local Gurudhwara (place of worship for Sikhs).
